I am someone who’s always tried to break into animation, whether working as a story artist, character design or even helming my own project. At this point i won’t deny that i’ve tried to find a platform to show off my work and at great hopes to find a network of artists; to support each other in our efforts or simply have something in common.

Being new i have been trying to select what i show from my old work but find interest to keep the traffic here more relevant to current works. I’ll be sure to upload older work if it’s relevant to a current project or just for the hell of it.

I wish i knew what i could ask for in advice going forward into using this site and trying to pop out more professionally, but i can confidently say i’ve always been open to criticism and off-hand advice even.

the one question i have been asked that i really don’t have a good answer for is why i use the name “wretneck”. I honestly ran with the name years ago when i originally had a DeviantART account and used the first username i could come up with that didn’t resort to symbols, numbers and at best not attributed to a character or property that wasn’t my own; i.e not calling myself FoxXmcLoud08.

the name “wretneck” just sticks and i vest help friends and followers find where i post, even if it attracts the moths of my past.

Why come to newgrounds now? I don’t want to rag on what failed or soured my experience on other social media platforms, especially since i don’t intend to make the same mistakes here by griefing. I just remember finding the fun games and hilarious animations in the day on here, and having seen users hold a strong community and working with each other to help one another make stuff- even break into the animation industry i once longed to be in. I see Newgrounds as an ideal platform for making those connections with serious artists, who at best proved to be successful under it. I am also not ashamed to mention one project i’ve struggled on my own in producing is a tribute animation to Oney’s let’s play Channel, i only regret that i planned the damn thing back in the beginning of 2018 and got caught up with so many other things to the point that i’m now actually boarding it.

i regret to not jumping on sooner, as i do blame my disinterest in years of trying to learn flash as to why i never started here; not realizing that it’s a platform for illustration and comics as well. But never too late to claim my time here in the present, even as i now have the humility to learn flash while it lasts.

could ask for recommendations for animation programs. i currently have Sketchbook and digicel flipbook on hand, but i think i need to put earnings into a video editing software as well.

I intend to find the time to start showcasing my original projects, initially as portfolio pieces, but with the ambition to build them up into full productions. Which i can only share as they come to realization and i can better say what they are about... unless you’re seriously interested-

• Miss Fortune- at the edge of the civilized universe, where law loses its grasp, bounty hunters are hired to track down the outlaws that cross into the unknown. And who could it be that seems to handle even the most intimidating of outlaws and face the unknown but a little black cat who’s convinced to be the luckiest gal in the universe- who’s luck happens to spell disaster for anyone who crosses her path.

• Cyan & Gill- you can’t choose your family, and there’s little to fix the sibling rivalry of the boy hungry mermaid and her play crazy gillman of a brother. There’s no dialogue shared between their slapstick antics, only the thrill of who gets who/what out of their day out to the seaside town

• Durmad* & Ambrosia- *spelling pending. A zealous knight of many achievements has fixed his sights on fulfilling the legacy as a knight with one of its ultimate achievements- slaying a dragon. Traveling far in search of such a mythical beast, he tracks one down to the edge of a traumatized civilization. But despite his ambition and experience, this knight finds himself in struggle to bring down the beast that misinterprets his attacks as signs of affection and the Dragon aims to have him as her very own knight in Shining armor... all’s fair in love and war, they say!

i do have others in mind, but these ones have the most developed in their concept; also they don’t limit what i can do with them.
